You've got an egg and want to know how long it will take to hatch but more importantly what it will contain? This guide explains everything there is to know about eggs and hatching in Pokémon GO.

Pokemon GO: complete egg charts guide

In Pokémon GO, it's possible to have eggs just like in the console versions. These can be obtained by using Pokestops, or by opening gifts from your friends.

To hatch an egg, place it in an incubator. You'll get an incubator with unlimited use at the beginning of the game and then incubators that can only be used 3 times during the game (and in the shop). There are also super-incubators (available in the shop) that allow you to hatch your eggs twice as fast.

Click on the main menu and then click on 'Pokémon'. Then select an egg and "start incubating".

There are currently four different types of eggs. The rarity of these eggs means that the number of kilometres to hatch varies as follows: 2km (green); 5km (orange); 7km (pink); 10km (purple).

When an egg hatches, candy is then given along with the Pokémon. The number of candies depends on the stage of evolution of the Pokémon: Snorlax, for example, will be made with more candies than Poliwag!

As we saw in the Pokémon GO review, it takes a long time to hatch an egg! It takes at least 2 km of walking to see a little Pokémon come out of its shell. But it's possible to speed up the process by travelling by bus, for example!

In fact, all you have to do is take a slow enough bus for the application to be fooled and allow the eggs to hatch quickly! Meanwhile, you can continue to capture Pokémon or collect items from the various Pokestops along the way.

Be careful though, after several attempts, it has been recognized that only straight line walking works! This is because the GPS doesn't update every second and needs a certain amount of time to find out where we are from our last recorded position.
