With the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the popular Zombies mode has returned, much to the delight of fans.
With a brand-new storyline, there are plenty of Easter Eggs to be discovered on the brand-new map named Die Maschine.
Just hours after the main Easter Egg went live, the Zombies community managed to crack the challenge in just a few hours.

Step 1 - Acquire a D.I.E Shockwave Wonder Weapon
The first step of the Easter Egg is to obtain the first D.I.E Wonder Weapon. In order to do so, ensure that the Power has been turned on and the Pack-A-Punch machine has been built in the Dark Aether.
When that is all ready to go, kill a Megaton Zombie which will split into two. Once the second half has been eliminated. it will drop a golden keycard.
With the keycard, head down into the Weapons Lab and to the draw which has a blinking light next to it.
Insert the keycard and you will receive a D.I.E Remote Control.
Head back to Nacht Der Untoten and you will see there is a sealed off room which contains a machine. The machine is known as D.I.E and requires the remote control to be turned on.
Activate it by standing near the hole in a nearby wall which will trigger a wave of Zombies towards the machine, sucking them up.
The machine requires a certain number of Zombie souls before you interact with the machine for a second time.
When enough souls have been gathered, head back to the hole in the wall and discharge the machine. This causes the door on the room to blow off. Head to the door of the room and inside, there will be a skeleton holding the D.I.E Shockwave Wonder Weapon.
Step 2 - Upgrade to D.I.E Cryo-Emitter
The second step involves starting the upgrade quest for the Wonder Weapons.
Begin by heading to the roof of Nacht Der Untoten and shoot the wooden box off the roof. Go to where it lands and pick up the empty flask.
With the flask, head to the tree with the strange fungus growing on it. Draw one of the stronger Zombies towards the tree and get them to shoot you.
This will trigger a reaction and the fungus will begin to leak fluid. Place the flask underneath it to collect the fluid.
Wait a period of time to kill the Zombie, earning another keycard.
Visit the Med Bay and melt the chains off the crate which will give you the ability to upgrade the D.I.E Shockwave to the D.I.E Cryo-Emitter
Step 3 - Upgrade To D.I.E Nova-5
For the third step, you will be required to upgrade the Wonder Weapon once again. Pick up an empty canister at the top of the Nacht Der Untoten building.
Advance to the basement of the Weapons Lab and put the canister into the tanks located to the right of the Deadshot Daquiri Perk.
Wait for the canister to absorb some of the gas. Eliminate a Plague Hound next to it in order to acquire the gas.
Pick up the canister full of gas and head back to the spawn area. Place it on the box with the vines wrapped around it. The vines will disappear and the D.I.E Nova-5 will emerge.
Step 4 - Build Aetherscope
With all the Wonder Weapons ready to go, here is the main portion of the Easter Egg.
Make your way into the Dark Aether where you will be looking for a total of three Aetherscope parts.
These parts can spawn at the Crash Site, Pack-A-Punch, and the Spawn area. The parts appear one at a time and it may require multiple trips to the Dark Aether in order to acquire them.
- Item 1 - On top of the crashed plane at Crash Site
- Item 2 - Pack-A-Punch room
- Item 3 - Yard under the stairs
With all three parts acquired, move to the bench near the Particle Accelerator to build the Aetherscope.
Step 5 - Activate Vogel's Computer
This particular step needs a lot of time spent in the Dark Aether, so you have to act fast before being sent back to the normal world.
Acquire Vogel's diary which can be found near the Medical Bay computer.
Advance underneath and there will be a spirit floating in the ear. Interact with it to summon the ghost of Vogel. He will start talking but pay attention to surviving any Zombies encroaching your location.
This process will need to be repeated in the Control Room and at the buildable bench. At the end of this process, Vogel will give you the password to the computer.
Now armed with the password, head back to Vogel's computer and enter the password.
Step 6 - Upgrade to D.I.E Electrobolt
When step five is complete, a portal to the Dark Aether will spawn just around the corner. Enter the portal and suck the energy from three Dark Aether crystals to unlock a boost for the D.I.E Shockwave.
- Crystal 1 - Crashsite
- Crystal 2 - Top of Nacht Der Untoten
- Crystal 3 - Pond
After securing the energy of each crystal, go back to where you enter the Dark Aether portal and shoot the case with three lights.
After shooting it three times, it will open, giving you access to the D.I.E Electrobolt.
Step 7 - Upgrade to D.I.E Thermophasic
For the final Wonder Weapon upgrade, you need to have to taken all Dark Aether fast travel systems at least once.
Systems can be found at the Crash Site, in Nacht Der Untoten, and in the Pond area of the map.
By entering the Pond portal, the crashed plane will rise, enabling you to acquire the fuse that was hidden underneath it.
Go to the Weapons Lab and place the fuse inside the Plasma Cutter which can be found left of Deashot Daquiri.
Once this has done, head back to the normal world. On top of the truck, a box containing the D.I.E Thermophasic will be open.
Step 8 - Decontamination
The computer at the Medical Bay will say it requires more power. Shoot the vessel hanging from the ceiling with each Wonder Weapon upgrade. When successful, each of the legs will point upwards.
Go back into the Dark Aether and to the top floor where there will be another spirit. There will be two soldiers that appear to have taken an item which needs to be found.
This will kick you out of the Dark Aether and back into the normal world where a Dark Aether Wrench will be on the floor. Pick it up and head to the Tank in the yard.
Use the wrench to interact with the tank multiple times until a Zombie emerges from the hatch.
Shoot the Zombie that pops out of the hatch. Craft a Semtex and aim it at the hatch that is now pointing upwards. This will trigger the tank to fire a missile at a tree.
Move to the tree near the Crash Site to acquire the Decontamination Agent.
Head back to where you found the Dark Aether Wrench and insert it into the glass case found on the wall.
The computer will then say that it requires a subject. Survive until a Megaton Zombie spawns in. Force the Zombie to split into two and it will be sucked inside the chamber.
Activate the chamber from the computer and the subject will be turned back into one being.
The Zombie is now a human named Orlov. He will tell you that he's scared and run away.
Head back into the Dark Aether and to Nacht Der Untoten where you will find a spirit of Orlov. Interact with him for the final cutscene before the final boss fight!
Step 9 - Final Boss
Before beginning the final steps of the Easter Egg, ensure you have enough ammunition, all the Perks you need, and enough Armor to resist the undead.
After speaking to the spirit of Orlov, you will return to the normal world.
To begin the boss fight, pick up Orlov's family photo which can be found where his spirit left.
You will be teleported to the Pack-A-Punch room where Orlov will be waiting. He recognizes his family in the photo and now he wants to stop the Particle Accelerator. Survive and protect Orlov from the Zombies.
A lot of regular and stronger Zombies will spawn in so fully utilize the power of the Wonder Weapons to protect Orlov.
One player should protect Orlov while the other three should be eliminating the seemingly endless wave of Zombies.
Orlov will move around the Particle Accelerator so make sure you follow him and protect him from any oncoming threats. IF HE TAKES TOO MUCH DAMAGE, YOU WILL FAIL THE ENTIRE EASTER EGG!
When Orlov has finished, the screen will turn white and purple.
Step 10 - Exfiltration
To complete the Easter Egg, escape the facility. You have 90 seconds to do so.
Stay away from any electricity otherwise you will die. If any of your party does fall, it only requires one player to reach the chopper to complete the Easter Egg.
Move to the Weapons Lab, through the Control Room, through the Tunnel and towards the Crash Sight and Pond.
Wait for the helicopter to lower itself to the ground, enabling you to interact with it. Get in the chopper to complete the Easter Egg!
