Demon Souls: Special Events Linked to World Tendency
In addition to the changes listed earlier, such as modifications to max HP, improved loot, stronger enemies, and Phantoms, World Tendency also has other, subtler effects that can easily be overlooked. Tendency can influence whether a door is open, a character is present, or even whether a boss is spawned or not. All the changes are listed below:
World 1: Palace of Boletaria
White
- The gate towards the Execution Grounds, the first door you see on the right, is unlocked

The Red and Blue Dragons do not spawn in the first zone
Pure white

Executioner Miralda appears, and killing her will push your World Tendency towards the black. She can be found in the building behind the Execution Grounds.
Black

The gate towards the Execution Grounds is unlocked.
Pure black
- Black Phantom Executioner Miralda appears. She can be found in the building behind the Execution Grounds.
World 2: Stonefang Tunnel
Pure white
- Scivir, the Wanderer will appear. He can be found in zone 2-2, in an alcove in a vertical shaft.

The Dragon Bone Smasher will appear in the Dragon God zone, show it to Scivir to receive a Pure Greystone
Pure black
- Black Phantom Scivir, the Wanderer will appear
World 3: Tower of Latria
Pure white

You can now reach the key and free Lord Rydell from his cell. By freeing him, you can now open the door to the second floor of Prison of Hope East.
Pure black
- Black Phantom Lord Rydell will appear near his cell. He will drop a Phosphorescent Pole that can be taken to Sparkly, the Crow and exchanged.
- Sodden Ring will appear. It can be found behind a pillar in the swamp, not far from the ball of human corpses.
World 4: Shrine of Storms
Pure white

Satsuki appears at the entrance to zone 4-1, as does a corpse carrying the Magic Sword Makoto. Find the sword and return it to Satsuki for a special trophy.
Pure black
- Black Phantom Satsuki appears at the entrance to zone 4-1 and will attack you on sight.
World 5: Valley of Defilement
White
- A path leading to Istarelle will appear. Finding this weapon will reward you with a trophy
Pure white
- Selen Vinland will appear on an island in the swamp in 5-2. She will give you a quest.

Black Phantom Garl Vinland appears if you’ve completed zone 5-3.
Pure black
- Black Phantom Selen Vinland appears in the swamp in 5-2.
