An iconic tool in any survival game since Minecraft, Valheim's Antler Pickaxe only unlocks after a few hours and a high-voltage boss fight. In this small guide dedicated to this important element of your progress, we see the few conditions to be met to obtain and craft it at your Workbench.
Craft: Unlock the Pickaxe
Simple, basic: follow our guide to defeat the boss Eikthyr, the first fallen of Valheim and you will then get Hard Antlers and the blueprint to craft the pickaxe. Back at your Workbench, you will need 10 x Wood and a single Hard Antler to craft it. It is also possible to repeat the fight against the fallen by bringing two new trophies to his altar, if you wish to farm these components for other brothers in arms.
Use of the Antler Pickaxe
It's up to you to break stones in due form. However, no need to use the durability of the tool on the rocks of the Plains, rather wait until you venture into the Black Forest to indulge in the gentle exercise of mining. From this second biome, you will have the opportunity to cross tin veins near rivers and huge copper deposits in the middle of the forest.
Then, it gets a little more complicated, since you will have to craft a furnace in order to transform these ingredients into ingots. Explore the Dark Forest biome until you find one of the famous caves that serve as a makeshift dungeon for this area. More details on the procedure to follow in a future guide.
To note
- Like the vast majority of the tools in the game, it can be repaired and upgraded at your Workbench completely free of charge. Increasing its durability quickly is a great idea when you are farming the ore needed to craft Bronze.
- You can also use the pickaxe to dig good-sized trenches wherever the soil is loose. In particular, this will allow you to unearth treasures to be exchanged with Haldor the Merchant.
