Biomutant Guide: Which class to choose

Biomutant Guide: Which class to choose
0

Melee or ranged combat, psychic powers or charisma: you will have to choose your class strategically in Biomutant if you want to shape the character of your dreams. Here is a guide to help you fully understand the different classes and their characteristics.

Biomutant Guide: Which class to choose

Available since May 25, 2021 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, Biomutant offers the option to create your character from head to toe by choosing not only appearance, but also species and class. While your avatar's fur hue and stats are important in shaping it however you see fit, exploring the open world will only be easier if you choose a class that matches your playstyle.

Be careful not to confuse the class and species of the character. There are six species in total in Biomutant and they allow you to customize your avatar. Classes allow you to specialize your character and basic statistics that you can then improve.

What is the best class in Biomutant?

There really isn't a better class in the game of Experiment 101 - it all depends on your playstyle.

  • Deadeye: A class with abilities for ranged combat.
  • Commando: A heavy weapon class.
  • Psi-Freak: Specialized in the mastery of Ki Energy and powers.
  • Saboteur: Can equip a weapon in each hand.
  • Sentinel: Fights with long weapons and has good armor.
  • Mercenary : A versatile class reserved for pre-orders.

The Breeds in Biomutant

Before choosing your class, the game will ask you to select your breed.

  • Primal: "Primals are a nimbly developed anthropomorphic species, hybrids that their genetic mutation makes nimble and dexterous at the cost of a less trained intellect." In a few words, choosing this species guarantees you high statistics in Agility but low in intelligence . Your hero will be faster in his movements, will be able to dodge more easily, but will have fewer hits during puzzles and less luck.
  • Dumdon: "Dumdons are the least developed anthropomorphic species, a hybrid branch which compensates for its mental deficiencies with great physical strength." In other words, they benefit from enormous Strength but sin on the level of intelligence just like the Primals.
  • Rex: "Rexes are an extraordinarily developed anthropormophic species, hybrid misfits whose DNA sequence enables them to overcome both physical and mental challenges." This species is therefore juggling between good statistics of Strength and intelligence but strongly lacks vitality (HP).

  • Hyla: "Hyla are an anthropomorphic species geared towards regeneration, hybrids possessing a genetic mutation making them extremely resistant and enduring." A "tank" species that benefits from a high amount of Armor , Health and Vitality .
  • Fip: "The Fips are renowned for their highly developed intellect. Their genius is directly related to the power of ki which amplifies their psionic skills." A species focused on ki-energy and its regeneration.
  • Murgel: "The Murgels are the definition of an idealized species. Their evolution has taken the direction where form and appearance have taken precedence over functionality." This is a nice species to play if you want to have a lot of charisma and luck , and therefore constantly loot better equipment.

The classes available in Biomutant

In addition to their own stats, each class has unique skills. While appearance is important in such an RPG, however, we recommend that you take the time to think about what breed and class you will choose at the start of the adventure (especially if you like play in Hard Mode).

The Maverick - Biomutant
The Maverick

Deadeye

Cunning and competent loners who have chosen to live outside the laws and values of society.

  • Perfect Reload: your ranged weapons recharge instantly and the next charger inflict 20% more damage.

This class is for players who plan to use ranged weapons and enjoy critical hits. If you decide to take this class, then you will have to favor a species benefiting from good statistics in Agility and Movement speed. Be careful, this does not mean that you will not be able to play melee, on the contrary.

The Commando - Biomutant
The Commando

Commando

Used to working in a small team, the Commandos form an elite force trained for special operations.

  • Fury: Ranged weapon attacks deal 10% more damage.

The Commando is also ideal for ranged weapon users but favors strategy a little more than pushing it in.

The Psionik - Biomutant
The Psionik

Psi-Freak

Psi-Freaks experiment with psionic powers and mutations. They are generally rejected on the margins of society.

  • Spark Ball: Press the key assigned to the ability to fire a Lightning Ball in front of you and deal damage to the enemy you hit
  • Megamind: Your ki regeneration is increased by 20%

This is a class of "magic" that allows you to use energy with unique abilities.

The Saboteur - Biomutant
The Saboteur

Saboteur

Saboteurs are cunning and resourceful explorers who have been trained to work under cover in both urban and wilderness settings.

  • Twin Silver Grip: Melee Dual Grip Skill: Equip two different melee weapons to wield one in each hand.
  • Hypergenetic: Energy cost of dodging is reduced by 20%)

A sort of Ninja class, the Saboteur prefers melee combat and is able to wield two different types of weapons (one in each hand). Discretion and ability are at the center of this class which will require you to increase your statistics mainly in Movement Speed, Dodge and Agility.

The Sentinel - Biomutant
The Sentinel

Sentinel

The Sentinels dedicate their lives to protecting a house. They are completely devoted to the organization as a whole and have an absolute belief in their dogma.

  • Toughness: The value of your base armor is increased by 10.

Class a bit of a catch-all, the Sentinel is however much more resistant than the others thanks to its passive Armor. Suitable for all playstyles, we recommend that you choose this class if you are unsure of which one to take at the start of your adventure. It will allow you to hit very hard while having a concrete defense.

The mercenary - Biomutant

Mercenary

The Mercenary class is a sixth class available only if you have pre-ordered Biomutant. If you haven't, it will be possible, later, to pay for the class as DLC.

  • Twin Silver Grip: Melee Dual Grip Skill: Equip two different melee weapons to wield one in each hand.
  • Fury: Melee weapon attacks deal 10% more damage.
