How to access the Player Search tool in FFXIV

To use the Player search you will first need to get to the Lodestone by clicking here and hover on "Community", once there you will be able to select the Character Search.

NOTE: Logging in is not mandatory to use the Character Search tool but doing so will enable more integrations with your linkshells, friends, or guildmates.

How to search for a player in FFXIV

To use the tool you'll have to start by clicking the magnifying glass called New Search. Once there, many options will be displayed on the screen, and here's what you need to pay attention to in order for your request to work properly:

• Select at least a data center, using the homeworld will help with the accuracy but is not mandatory, you'll just have more results with the data center
• You do not need to select a job, selecting one might cause problems if the player changed class in the meantime as the lodestone doesn't actualize instantly.
• The Race / Clan is not mandatory for your research
• Make sure to check which languages are selected, I'd advise checking them all, just in case.
• You can use either the first or last name of the character, both will work.
• The tool doesn't know if you typed the first or last name, so if you search for "potato" for example, you will see everyone with potato as first or last name (or both).
