The Winter Wonderland event has been available for a week in Overwatch and this new patch has brought a new emote that may have surprised fans.
This emote shows the monkey signing "Hello, My Name Is Winston" in ASL (American Sign Language).
To sign his name, Winston moves his arms, as he does during his primordial rage. This sign was invented by Danik Soudakoff, an Overwatch player and fan of the Los Angeles Valiant. The young man also spoke on Twitter about this emote.
Danik, 14, was already well known in the community. He had developed signs to discuss the world of Overwatch with his interpreter when he went to see Overwatch League games. In these signs, the mimic to use a Sniper Rifle is to represent Widowmaker, the sign of Mercy's resurrection to talk about the famouse doctor, or the famous arm movement that can be seen in the emote for Winston.
A short report on Danik had been broadcast on the Watchpoint show, and we learn more about the young Californian.
Danik says his biggest dream is to play for the Valiant team in his hometown. He also explains that his favorite player is the French DPS SoOn who is currently a member of Paris Eternal — but was one of the flagship DPS of Los Angeles Valiant.
This emote is a beautiful Christmas gift for Danik, who sees his influence forever marked in his favorite game.
