For greater diversity of composition, the Overwatch League Season 3 has introduced the Hero Pool feature. For this week's games — which will start next Saturday — here are all the heroes that have been banned:
To be banned, several conditions must be taken into account.
- The hero must have an in-game attendance rate of at least 10% over the previous two weeks.
- A hero can't be banned for two weeks in a row.
Once the list is ready, the heroes will be chosen randomly from this list. Each week, one Tank, one Support and two DPS will be selected. The Hero Pool will be announced on Sunday, during Watchpoint, before the start of the matches.
For next week, here are the heroes that could have been banned:
Tanks
Three tanks could have been banned:
- D.Va still as used with only slightly less hero use than last week: 92.6%
- Winston get back in use with 32.5% hero use
- Orisa is a little more played with Reinhardt's ban with 18% hero use
It was Winston who was randomly chosen. D.Va still manages to slip through the cracks!
Supports
As for the tanks, four supports could have been selected:
- Ana is the most played with 61.0% hero use
- Lucio comes next with 53.8%, much less than last week
- Brigitte's been played a lot this week becoming eligible with 39% hero use
- Zenyatta also makes its entrance with 26.9% hero use
For this second ban, chance chose Lucio, removing him from the possible choices for the next week.
DPS
A little more choice on the DPS side with four heroes on the list:
- Mei again with 58.5% hero use
- Tracer then with 32.0% hero use
- Sombra with 21.7% hero use
- Soldier 76 with 14.7% hero use
Out of these four possibilities, Soldier 76 and Sombra were drawn.
WARNING: This ban only applies to the Overwatch League, and unless there is a huge coincidence, it won't be the same on the live servers at the beginning of Season 21.
To see the impact of these changes, see you on Saturday March 14 at 10 am (PT) for New-York Excelsior vs Atlanta Reign!
