As you know, Pokémon GO is a game that is played mostly outside, but since containment, it's impossible to play it this way. This is why Niantic has decided to put new things in place in the game so that it's accessible from your home.
Niantic had already tried to facilitate the playability of Pokémon Go players during confinement by offering objects (incense, balls) each week via the 1 pokecoin boxes for example. Now Niantic wants to go even further by adding:
- Raids doable from your home (more details below)
- Improved Pokémon Power Up System
- A field research every day without spinning Pokéstop (bonus).
How to participate in a Raid Battle from home
This functionality is not yet unlocked but it will not be long. It will allow you to participate in a Raid Battle that you see from your home: this implies that you must see a Gym on your map. By clicking on it, you will then be able to access the Raid in progress.
Please note, this action is not free since you will need a special Remote Raid Pass.
Soon, a Remote Raid Pass will be available for the price of 1 Pokecoin in the Shop. Then, the Passes will be available for 100 pokecoins each.
Daily field research
Every day at midnight, you will receive a special field research in your list without even having to spin a Pokéstop. In this way, all players can have at least one study to complete per day. These quests will obviously be doable from home. If you already have 3 quests with you, a fourth slot will be opened in the list.
Other news
- In order to save players time, it will soon be possible to power up your Pokémon by directly choosing the level and the CPs that you want to reach.
- When you use a Star Piece, an Incense or a Lucky Egg, you can activate several at once to prolong their effects (instead of 30 minutes).
The date of this update has not been communicated but we know without a doubt that it will be available very soon.
As part of the Grass-type Pokémon month, Niantic announced changes to attacks and Grass-type Pokémon on Pokémon GO.
