Jeff Kaplan has just spoken in a Developer Update about the future of Overwatch, and especially about improvements to the Communication Wheel. Players have been hoping to add new communication possibilities, and it will soon be done!
The possibilities won't be unlimited, but many new ones are expected. For example, Jeff has presented the possibility to do counts — "3" "2" "1" — but it will also be an opportunity to ask your team to step back and regroup, or just say "sorry" without having to choose Mei.
Bonus: all these lines will be expressed by your character. Everything has been doubled to allow a greatest immersion in the game.
Match Queue
Jeff Kaplan also talked about many other topics, including the match queue before playing competitive games. He said that this topic is always a crucial point for teams and that they're working to improve it more and more. He also talked about a very frustrating situation for all players: waiting to play their game, and seeing the game cancelled because a player left before it started — forcing you to wait again to find a new game. Very soon, a priority system will be put in place, so if this misadventure happens to you, you should find a game much faster if you didn't leave the match. This system doesn't guarantee that you'll find a match instantly after the first one is cancelled, but you won't have to go all the way back to the bottom of the queue. The game will consider that the match never happened by placing you back at the top of the match queue.
Patch Notes
A link appeared during the Echo update, but for the moment it's linked to an out-of-game site. In a future upate, patch notes will be available in-game.
Workshop
New features will be added soon to help everyone who makes mods. For example; Jeff Kaplan talked about the appearance of night maps in the Workshop.
