It's a new collaboration for the Overwatch League and the Call of Duty League. Activision Blizzard has announced its association with Sportradar, a Swiss company that will handle integrity in sports betting. The official press release provides details of this collaboration.
Overwatch League and Call of Duty League betting will now be protected by Sportradar, the world market leader in integrity services in traditional sports and esports. This will prevent any corruption related to betting.
Under the terms of the agreement, Sportradar will monitor global betting activities related to the OWL and CDL both in the U.S. and internationally, and report any potential integrity issues to Activision-Blizzard to help save the integrity of the competitions.
Sportradar will also provide both leagues with access to its specialized intelligence and investigative services unit when necessary. In addition, the company will contribute to the education of players on betting risks and betting integrity rules. It will also develop an application allowing players to anonymously report suspected integrity problems. The company already supports more than 90 of the largest U.S. and international sports and athletic organizations, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, FIFA and the Australian Open.
Sportradar will monitor betting data to identify potential problems such as match fixing, abuse of confidential information and other illegal and unethical betting and gaming activities. The goal is to preserve the integrity of all Overwatch League and Call of Duty League competitions.
The company's fraud detection system monitors the odds of more than 600 betting operators worldwide and uses proprietary algorithms to identify abnormal activity. If anomalies and potential integrity issues are reported, the Sportradar team alerts the relevant league in real time and assists with the resulting investigations.
