Just a month after announcing the Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship, Riot Games revealed that Team Liquid have been selected to host the North America Qualifier.
2000 players will compete in order to earn one of the two spots allowing them to represent their region in the Galaxies Championship. The event will be sponsored by the sandwich brand Jersey Mike’s Subs that renewed its partnership with Team Liquid in January.
Recently, several organizations such as 100 Thieves or Team Liquid stood up to organize competitions and tournaments, notably on Valorant. While it would have been normally quite surprising to see teams and organizations take this role in a publisher-run environment, the current coronavirus pandemic certainly explains why Riot Games decided to trust these organizations.
The Galaxies Championship will gather the top 16 players from all represented regions that will compete to earn their share of the $200,00 prize pool. Riot Games hasn't yet announced any schedule nor starting date for the event.
