They sprang a surprise by reaching the semi-finals Playoffs during the Spring Split, and they're now leading the Summer Split — it makes no doubt that MAD Lions are the true revelation of this year.
The 2020 Season of the League of Legends European Championship is without a doubt the moment for rookies to shine, as Rogue also demonstrated a level that no one was really expecting.
Both teams are neck and neck in the lead, with the usual favorites on their heels. G2 Esports, Fnatic, Origen, and SK Gaming are battling for the second place in an unprecedented situation where they have to chase the teams they usually dominate.
Misfits and Vitality had a pretty rough week, which explains their current record, but it's nothing compared to Excel Esports — who only snatched one victory — and Schalke 04 — who are now 0-5.

With everything they showed since the beginning of the season, MAD Lions proved they were not only one of the top LEC teams but also real contenders for one of the four European Worlds' seeds.
Against Fnatic, they felt under pressure during the laning phase, but then displayed impressive management of teamfights — which is all the more surprising, as it tends to be the mark of veteran teams, and not rookies. That's not the only feat they achieved last week, as they stomped over Team Vitality, but a victory over Fnatic is certainly telling more.
We're still expecting a lot from the Lion cubs as we need to see if they can hold their position during the upcoming weeks. In any case, they deserve the first place in our rankings.

G2 Esports are back on track, but they'll need to achieve just a bit more to claim back their first place in our rankings. Individually, all G2 players displayed an incredible level of play during Week 2, and the only obstacle on their road to Worlds are the Lion cubs.
It makes no doubt that G2 will represent Europe at Worlds this year again — but it remains to be seen with which seed, and which placement...

Although they achieved mixed results this week, Rogue are still fare ahead in the LEC standings, currently neck and neck with MAD Lions for the first place. However, their record doesn't entirely reflect their level or their performance, as testified by their defeat against G2. However, the team was far from being mediocre last week, as they crushed Vitality without too much effort.
Just like G2, Rogue need to learn how to control the chaos resulting from their aggressiveness Until they do so, they'll remain a team with unused potential.

Origen caught back on their bad start with two nice victories this week. Although things seemed a bit too easy against Excel, it was slightly different against Fnatic. Origen managed to exploit Fnatic's draft, leading to quite impressive teamfights.
In the end, it just feels that Origen benefited from Fnatic's weakness — but they remain one of the top LEC teams nevertheless, hence their current placement in our rankings.

Week 2 Record: 0-2
After a crazy 3-0 during the Super Week, the winning streak of Fnatic came to a quick end last week with two losses added to their record.
Admittedly, they tried a new strategy by making Rekkles play Soraka — which means it's hard to judge them based on these results.
In any case, they looked beyond recognition — hence their current placement in our rankings.
Previous Ranking: 4th (-2)
Week 2 Record: 1-1
Following their quite good start, SK Gaming kept winning last week, with a crushing victory against Misfits, notably relying on Jenax's Volibear.
On the other hand, the teamed showed completely different against Excel, to whom they loss. SK Gaming still have a lot to demonstrate if they want to climb back in standings, and in our rankings.
Previous Ranking: 6th (-1)
Week 2 Record: 1-1
After a quite interesting Spring Split,Misfitsjust don't look the same — and the recent return of Kobbe has nothing to do with it, as he clearly smurfed over the pâst two weeks. However, playing around him in peel-only strategies might not be the perfect solution to win games.
Completely dominated by SK Gaming, Misfits managed to grab a win against Schalke 04 — but that's nothing surprising given the current situation of the German team.
Previous Ranking: 5th (-3)
Week 2 Record: 0-2
After a great start, Team Vitalityresumed their bad habits and lost their two games of the week. Especially aggressive against Rogue, the bees failed to control the map or the objective, leading to their own defeat. Against MAD Lions, it felt they were just watching the game happening.
Capable of the best, and the worst, Vitality will have to display strong performance this week to go up in our rankings.
Previous Ranking: 9th (=)
Week 2 Record: 1-1
Although they won their first match of the split last week, Excel Esports remain one of the weakest teams of the LEC. The influence of Youngbuck is surely perceptible as Excel are now playing quite good early-games — but this doesn't translate yet in a real mastery of the Rift.
Against SK Gaming, Excel were lucky to face a team that was also committing a lot of mistakes — but their match against Origen was completely one-sided.
Previous Ranking: 10th (=)
Week 2 Record: 0-2
Between the Super Week and Week 2, nothing apparently changed for Schalke 04 — and their performance even led to countless memes on their name...
With no victory at all to their record, Schalke have absolutely everything to prove. Until they manage to grab more wins, they'll remain bottom of the pile.
G2 Esports continued their dominance of European League of Legends, dominating Fnatic in a 3-0 series win. With four titles in a row, and eighth overall, they seize the mantle of most successful team in LEC history.
