Riot Games has announced a multi-year partnership with music streaming service Spotify for League of Legends esport events. While the game already has a rich audio universe, this should help it develop even more.

LoL: Riot Games signs partnership deal with Spotify

For Spotify, the deal makes sense. According to a press release from the streaming firm, the official League of Legends soundtrack pulls in over 4.8 million listens per month on the platform.

This new, multi-year deal will see Spotify become the official streaming partner for global League of Legends events, and ushers in an all-new hub for all things League audio.

A new hub will include both new and existing releases, from the orchestral soundtrack to popular tracks from K/DA, True Damage and more.

There will also be playlists of and inspired by the game, curated for fans' enjoyment. A 'Road to Worlds 2020' playlist is already live, and comes with a rather memeworthy inclusion...

The deal will also see the creation of several League of Legends podcasts. One, titled 'Untold Stories: Top Moments from Worlds', is a nine-episode series leading up to Worlds 2020.

The partnership will also include a behind-the-scenes look at the new anthem for Worlds, which is yet to be revealed.

However, it may have already been leaked...

“Music and audio are an intrinsic part of our sport and game, so we are thrilled to partner with Spotify to provide our fans with another platform where they can enjoy the ultimate manifestation of League of Legends,” says Naz Aletaha, Head of Global Esports Partnerships, Riot Games.

“As a disrupter in their space similar to Riot Games, Spotify allows us to collectively challenge the limits of possibility as we blend sports, technology, entertainment, and music to create iconic experiences and content that inspire generations.”

According to June Sauvaget, Spotify's Global Head of Consumer and Product Marketing, the partnership "“will create a first-of-its-kind audio universe for the millions of Spotify and League of Legends fans across the globe.

"As the exclusive—and first ever—global audio service partner for League of Legends, we plan to create a world-class audio-streaming experience for our users, making discovering both music and podcasts easier than ever before.”
