The Pokémon Players Cup returns in a second edition called The Pokémon Players Cup II simply. During the first competition, players were able to obtain Pokémon ready to fight for free. Each of these creatures related to competitions on the games of the franchise.
Here are the important details to know before you can register. This competition will take place from the end of September to the end of December 2020.
- Have an account at the Trainer Club dating from before September 21, 2020
- Have a player ID prior to September 21, 2020
- Have linked their Trainer Club account to the Nintendo account
- Be part of the Master category
- If you are a TCG player, you will need to have been logged into TCG Online with a player ID linked to your Trainer Club account between June 21 and September 21, 2020
A little reminder of the rules
In this tournament, the Series 5 VGC Rules will be applied.
There is no Pokkén Tournament DX for this edition but it is expected that a competition for the game will arrive in the future.
How to participate in ranked battles
- Open the main menu with the X button;
- Select "VS";
- Select “Combat Stadium”;
- Select “Ranked Combat”.
You can also download the rules to train against your friends or other players. Here's how to do it:

- Start your Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield game;
- Select "VS" from the menu;
- Select “Combat Stadium”;
- Select "Internet competition";
- Select "Find an official competition".
Qualifying phases
- From Thursday September 24 to Sunday September 27
Participate in the final stages
Players who emerge victorious from the qualifying rounds will be able to participate in the final round of the Pokémon Players Cup II which will take place in December.

- 4 players from the North American regional qualifier of the Pokémon Players Cup II
- 4 players from the European regional qualifier of the Pokémon Players' Cup II
- 4 players from the Latin American regional qualifier of the Pokémon Players Cup II
- 4 players from the Oceania regional qualifier of the Pokémon Players Cup II
Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield
- 4 players from the North American regional qualifier of the Pokémon Players Cup II
- 4 players from the European regional qualifier of the Pokémon Players' Cup II
- 4 players from the Latin American regional qualifier of the Pokémon Players Cup II
- 4 players from the Oceania regional qualifier of the Pokémon Players Cup II
