FunPlus Phoenix created its Valorant roster last August. The Chinese organization decided to establish itself in Europe and chose as captain Kirill "ANGE1" Karasiow — former CS:GO professional player.
After a little more than a month of existence, it obtained very encouraging results. Finishing second in two stages of the Valorant Ignition Series, it also inflicted its first competitive defeat on G2 Esports.
Unfortunately, it has yet to win a major title. It still lacks a little something. The recruitment of Petar "peca" Marković as General Manager could change all that. Perhaps that was the missing piece of the puzzle.
Peca isn't unknown in the world of esports. He has distinguished himself with CS:GO CR4ZY team in 2019. With limited means, it surprised last year by reaching the top 10 in the HLTV ranking. As Valorant remains a developing competitive scene, his experience in managing the project is a real plus. It's also an opportunity for him to show that he has what it takes to manage a top-notch team.
However, peca won't only be in charge of the Valorant section. He will also supervise the CS:GO team, which doesn't exist at the moment. It will be up to him to find the right players to build a competitive roster. He has already expressed himself on the networks to make a foot call to all the top players who felt misused or badly considered by their current team.
