Constantin Film has announced a new movie adaptation of Resident Evil 1 and 2, under the direction of horror director Johannes Roberts, which promises to be much more faithful to the origins of the franchise than the latest adaptations of Resident Evil by Paul WS Anderson.
The movie will be coming back to the Resident Evil franchise roots, which means it will be much more focused on horror.
The actors who will play the main characters of the first two Resident Evil have been revealed as well.
Cast
The movie will be supervised by a seasoned horror crew: Robert Kulzer (who also produced Paul W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil franchise), and James Harris (I Am Not A Serial Killer) will be part of the producers crew, as well as Hartley Gorenstein (The Boys), who is probably quite accustomed to body horror and gore.
The film will be based on the events of the first two games in the series, through the Spenser Mansion and Raccoon City, and will be distributed by Sony Pictures. The movie will be releasing theatrically in 2021, although no official date has been revealed yet.
