Rebirth Island is an illicit Soviet base attacked and closed by the CIA in 1968, during which operator Russell Adler forcefully grabbed and interrogated base commander Vikhor "Stitch" Kuzmin. The island was rebuilt and returned to service by Stitch in 1984 to resume production of the deadly Nova 6 gas.
Rebirth Island Map Overview
An interactive map reveals that there are a total of 32 points of interest. This map follows in the footsteps of Verdansk, by offering various places to discover. It does look extremely familiar to the Alcatraz map that appeared on Blackout.
From the chemical engineering buildings to the safe area to the massive prison block in between, you can find plenty of ammo boxes, buy stations, vehicle spawns and more. This map also features a brand new Gulag where you will have to be much smarter than your enemies to succeed in rejoining your allies in combat:
The rules for the Gulag are essentially the same as those for Gunfight, now live in Black Ops Cold War.
Rebirth Island Gulag
- Your loadout will be completely random.
- Each round lasts 40 seconds, with the main objective being to eliminate your enemy. If neither player dies after 40 seconds, “overtime” begins and a flag appears.
- Both players have a few seconds to capture this flag. The capture time is three seconds.
- During overtime, you can achieve victory by capturing the flag or eliminating your opponent.
- If no one beats the other player or captures the flag, the player with the higher health wins. If both sides have the same amount of health and the time expires, both players will be killed.Treyarch describes this map as a new way to play Mini-BR, but obviously this island has its own rules. The number of players is much lower than in a classic game, hence its assimilation to the Mini-BR.
