The usual mid-set update brings a whole raft of changes to Teamfight Tactics. Titled 'Festival of Beasts', we'll see traits removed and added, new champions, and the departure of some favourites.

All about Festival of Beasts, the Set 4.5 update for Teamfight Tactics

As with the Galaxies set for Teamfight Tactics, Set 4 is going to get a huge mid-term update. All changes will come with Patch 11.2 in two weeks time, and swap out the 'Fates' phase of the game for 'Festival of Beasts'.

Removals

Moonlight

Often grumbled about by players for being too powerful too early, the Moonlight trait no longer shines in the night.

Bid farewell to Lissandra, Sylas and the oft-broken Aphelios. Diana remains, as you'll see below.

Dusk

Getting rid of Dusk means Riot can introduce an all-new trait, as we'll detail below.

All five Dusk champions fade into nothing, so you won't see Vayne, Thresh, Riven, Cassiopeia or Lillia on the board any longer.

Hunter

Often unbearable to play against, Hunters will also disappear. Gone are the days of these champions eliminating enemies in the blink of an eye. If you listen carefully, you can hear the sighs of relief of players thankful that Aphelios, Warwick and Ashe are no more.

Kindred gets a stay of execution, as you'll see below.

Dazzler

Dazzlers are also removed, so get used to not seeing LissandraLux, and Ezreal reduce your AD for a ridiculous amount of time.

Morgana switches trait, keep reading for the details.

Shade

While Zed undergoes a makeover, his fellow Shade champions Evelynn and Kayn say their goodbyes.

Useful at times, you didn't often see the full complement thanks to Kayn's expensive cost.

The following champions will also be removed:

  • Nami
  • Hecarim
  • Jinx
  • Xin Zhao
  • Jhin
  • Ahri

Updates

Among the removed traits, some champions remain. Their origin or their class has therefore been modified to fit into the new synergies.

Diana

Moonlight Assassin → Spirit Assassin

Remaining a 1-cost champion, Diana simply joins another trait, . See below for details.

Zed

Ninja Shade → Ninja Slayer

Zed gets a new passive for the 4.5 update. Similar to his past usage, he'll jump to the back row at the start, and deal bonus magic damage on every third hit. He'll also steal some of his target's AD.

Kindred

Spirit Hunter → Spirit Executioner

Kindred looks like the same powerful carry as last set, this time having Wolf do extra damage and reducing enemy healing. See below for details of the new Executioner trait.

Morgana

Enlightened Dazzler → Enlightened Syphoner

Morg's Hallowed Ground appears to get a massive buff this time round, with damage, magic resist shred, and healing from the new Syphoner trait. Yikes!

New Tier 5 Champions

Ornn

Elderwood Vanguard Blacksmith

Stampede: Ornn summons an elemental from behind the furthest enemy to travel towards him, slowing the Attack Speed of enemies hit by 50% for 3 seconds and dealing magic damage. If the elemental runs into Ornn, he headbutts it, redirecting it towards another distant enemy, stunning them and dealing magic damage.

Initial Damage:150 / 250 / 750
Stun Duration:1.5 / 2 / 15
Secondary Damage:150 / 250 / 750

If the elemental joins Ornn, he heads him back to him that sends him back to another distant enemy.

Blacksmith

(1) After participating in combat, Blacksmiths will begin forging an Artifact item. The higher their star-level, the faster they work. Once the Artifact is complete, it will be able to bestow upon an ally. Each ally may only equip one Artifact.

Example Items:

Rocket-Propelled Fist

+15 Mana, +25 Armor, +200 Health

“At the start of combat, the wearer pulls the farthest enemy into melee range, stunning them for 1.5 seconds. Allies within range will prioritize attacking that enemy.”

Muramana

+20 Attack Damage, +20 Attack Speed, +15 Mana

“After the wearer casts their spell for the first time each combat, they restore 100 Mana.”

Infinity Force

+33 of every stat other than health, +333 Health

“ Tons of Damage!….Well, really tons of everything.”

Samira

Daredevil Sharpshooter Slayer

Inferno Trigger: Samira dashes and becomes unstoppable, unleashing shots at 3 enemies within 2.5 hexes for 2 seconds (Total shots: 24). For the duration, Samira gains 100% dodge chance.

Shots Per Second:4 / 4 / 4

Daredevil: The first Dragonsoul to take damage in combat recieves the Dragon's Blessing. While blessed, the unit gains bonus stats, and every 5th attack fires a Dragonsoul blast, dealing bonus magic damage.

In addition to the new Tier 5 units and new traits, a few other champions are joining the roster to complete their respective types.

  • Rakan - Tier 2 Elderwood Keeper
  • Sivir - Tier 3 Cultist Sharpshoooter

System Changes

In addition to all this, we have another new feature in TFT. Because it's the Festival of Beasts, we thought everyone deserved a gift!

During a game, each player will at some point receive a "Lucky Lantern". All eight players will receive their lantern at the same time.

The contents will be the same for everyone, but will change with each game. It can contain resources such as Gold, Neeko's Help, components, and even Forces of Nature… but there can also be new things. Here are a few:

  • Shop Reroller
  • Item Rerroller
  • Item Remover
  • Training Dummy
  • Force of Nature
