Several reports have emerged revealing an EA employee has been selling the best Ultimate Team cards to players for real money, a significant breach of EA's terms of service.
According to a wave of leaked messages, players are being sold for money in excess of $1100.
The messages show players paying thousands to list valuable Prime Icon Moments cards in order for them to be acquired with in-game currency.
Soon after the messages emerged, #EAGATE began to trend on Twitter.
EA has issued a response regarding the issue.
With these cards almost impossible to obtain by playing the game or through buying packs, being able to use real money to buy the cards to enhance a team isn't exactly a good look for a publisher already under fire for its use of loot boxes.
With widespread backlash coming from several players, including EA's very own Game Changer influencers speaking up on the issue, let's hope something comes of what appears to be a significant problem.
