League of Legends Circuit Oceania (LCO) champions Pentanet.GG have added an extra name to their roster just before they take to the stage at the Mid-Season Invitational. Diana "dsn" Nguyen joins the squad as substitute support player, marking her debut as professional player at the highest level.
In the Global Contract Database, dsn was already added to Pentanet.GG on April 12. However, the team waited until one week before the start of MSI to officially announce her as backup force.
dns's signing to Pentanet.GG is a historic moment in League of Legends esport: it is the first time in the game's competitive history that someone who identifies as a woman will attend the Mid-Season Invitational as a competitor.
Pentanet.GG faces a tough group in group A, even though VCS champions GAM Esports won't be attending. RNG, China's representatives, count as one of the tournament favorites. While Unicorns of Love, the popular pink squad, represents a minor region (the LCL) just like Pentanet.GG, the team did manage to fight their way to the Group Stage of the last World Championship.
