Competitive Warzone has proven extremely popular since the battle royale released back in March 2020.
With some players wondering if Activision would ever host a dedicated tournament circuit, the publisher has officially revealed the World Series of Warzone, a brand-new competitive circuit featuring the largest prize pool in the history of the battle royale.
Players will compete for over $1.2 million across Europe and North America in private matches against the very best players in the world.
Here's everything you need to know about the 2021 World Series of Warzone.
World Series of Warzone Format
The circuit will feature Trios and Duos tournaments with huge cash prizes on the line.
Five captains will be selected to pick their own personal Trio alongside ten other Trios that have been formed by a draft. Once the draft has been completed each of the five captains will have ten Trio squads representing their team which ties into the Captain's Cup. The $100,000 portion of the event will see teams do battle to score points. The team with the highest aggregate score will win. The winning captain will receive $20,000 while the players will get $1,000 each.
Alongside the Captain's Cup, the 50 Trios will drop into a private lobby to compete for the lion's share of $200,000 in prize money.
Rather than a kill race format, teams will earn points depending on placement and the number of kills scored. Find a full breakdown on the Trios scoring below:
- Each kill per squad member will be awarded 1 Point.
- 1st place - 2x Points Multiplier
- 2nd-15th place - 1.5x Points Multiplier
- 16th-50th place - 1x Points Multiplier (No multiplier)
Duos Scoring
- 1 Point awarded to each player across all maps.
- 1st place - 2x Points Multiplier
- 2nd-25th place - 1.5x Points Multiplier
- 26th-75th place - 1x Points Multiplier (No multiplier)
World Series Of Warzone Start Date
The action gets underway on June 23rd with the first North American Trios event of the World Series.
Details on the European and other North American events have yet to be revealed.
How To Qualify
A portion of the players will receive invitations from Activision but there is a way for aspiring Warzone players to qualify.
Sign up on GameBattles for one of four qualifiers. Once the four qualifiers have been completed, the top 64 teams will battle it out in the Qualifier Finals where the winner will secure a place in the Trios event taking place on June 23rd.
Prize Pool
As mentioned earlier, a total of $1.2 million will be split across European and North American tournaments.
Both Duos and Trios tournaments will feature a $300,000 prize pool. $200,000 will be split between the competing teams while the remaining $100,000 will be distributed through the Captain's Cup.
