Mental health issues have been discussed a lot recently — especially with a global pandemic which has left a lot of us with health and financial issues, as well as a whole heap of mental health concerns. Riot Games has launched an initiative to allow content creators to be able to support their viewers who may have been affected by such issues.
Partnering with the Public Goods Project, a public health non-profit composed of experts in public health, media, and marketing, they’ve created a guide with information about conversations, the kind of language to use and resources that can share with their viewers.
“Improving mental health outreach and support has been one of our key focus areas for a while,” said Riot in the announcement for the initiative. “Unfortunately, the added stress of the global pandemic has taken a toll on people’s mental health—young people in particular. And players have increasingly turned to content creators for mental health support.”
In order to understand more about the “knowledge, behaviors, and attitudes around mental health in the gaming community”, Riot will continue to work The Public Good Project.
