Dead Space has been mentioned several times in the last few weeks, ever since EA announced that the company wanted to revive some of its old IP. On this opportunity, a popular gaming site has said that the reveal of a new Dead Space is just a matter of time.
According to Jeff Grubb at GamesBeat, the first game in the franchise will receive a remake or reboot. This decision seems to be inspired by Capcom and their recent (and successful) efforts in modernizing their classic Resident Evil titles.
Apparently, this new reimagination of the original Dead Space would add new mechanics that can be found in both the sequels and other modern games, such as the mentioned Resident Evil remakes.
Dead Space 3 received a lot of backlash for being basically an action game, instead of the survival experience of the previous titles. That’s why this supposed “new” entry would be a return to its horror roots.
This can be thought of as a change of pace for EA. The studio had many live-services titles that have failed, while others focused on single-player content, like Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, have been more successful.
Tune into the EA Play event on July 22, in which EA could reveal more about Dead Space.
