Counter Logic Gaming is not the most popular League of Legends team right now.
The LCS strugglers recently released a behind-the-scenes video posted to social networks, in which it was heaviily implied changes would be made to the roster in the wake of poor results. However, the nature of the team meeting being private didn't sit well with fans, who quickly took to social media to criticize the team.
The change was made on July 13, and it seems that it isn’t the only one we’re going to be seeing — according to the video, at least.
Eugene "Pobelter" Park will be benched for Week 7 of the LCS. The 24-year-old veteran returned to CLG in February 2020, but was unable to win back the title he held in 2015.
Tanner Damonte, another North American midlaner, will replace Pobelter. He had a brief stint with 100 Thieves earlier in the season, but was notably absent when the second split of the LCS began.
Initially he was more focused on content creation, but was called up by CLG during a critical moment in their attempt at Playoffs qualification. His debut weekend will see him go up against Team Liquid, Cloud9 and Immortals.
"We are making a change in the mid lane. Damonte will be starting for CLG this weekend. Thank you to our fans for continuing to support the team. We're committed to finishing this season strong," the post reads.
The North American squad is currently tied for 9th place with the Golden Guardians, both with a 10-26 record. CLG will attempt to do better this weekend, while Pobelter hasn't commented on the situation.
