The first Pokémon Unite patch is expected to land this Wednesday, August 4 on Nintendo Switch. Several attack-minded Pokémon are buffed, while Cinderace and Eldegoss are nerfed and Gengar is adjusted.

With the advent of ranked play in Pokémon Unite, changes are necessary to balance out the gameplay and reduce the power of certain Pokémon -- something that is common in MOBA-type games.

The first patch will drop on Wednesday, August 4. The official announcement is not very specific, with few details and no specifics regarding the stats changed.

Here's what's coming.

When will the Pokémon Unite update be released?

The update will take effect this Wednesday, August 4. Just restart the game, and the update will take place automatically. It's not necessary to update Pokémon Unite through the console.

Pokémon Unite buffs & nerfs

Although there is no accurate information in the official patch notes regarding how much the stats will be affected, here are the changes being made:

  • Bug Fixes
  • Text Fixes
  • Spectate Feature Test Release: A test release of the Spectate feature will be performed from 8-4-2021 at 12AM PDT/7:00 UTC until 8-6-2021 at 12AM PDT/7:00 UTC.
Charizard

The cooldown of the Flamethrower ability has been reduced and its effects on opponents increased.

The effects of the Fire Punch ability have been improved.

The cooldown of Fire Blast has been reduced and the effects on opponents have been increased.

Talonflame

The damage dealt by the Acrobat skill has been increased.

The damage dealt by the Aerial Ace skill has been increased.

The damage dealt by the Aerial Ace+ skill has been increased.

The damage dealt by the Fly skill has been increased.

Venusaur

The damage done by the Sludge Bomb skill has been increased and its effects on opponents strengthened.

Petal Dance skill has been improved.

The cooldown of the Solar Beam ability has been reduced.

Venusaur's Unite move, Verdant Anger, now deals more damage.

Absol

Bug fixes have been made to Absol's basic attack.

The damage dealt by the Night Slash ability has been increased.

The damage dealt by the Sucker Punch skill has been increased.

Wigglytuff

The following Wigglytuff stats have been improved: Defense, Sp. Def, HP

The damage dealt by the Double Slap skill is increased and the effects on opponents will improve.

Sing's effect on opponents has been improved.

Fixed bugs in the Dazzling Gleam skill.

Eldegoss

Increased cooldown of Cotton Guard, and HP restoration reduced.

Cotton Spore's cooldown has been reduced and its effects on enemies are improved. Defense and Special Defense increase when the skill is used.

Eldegoss's Unite move, Cotton Cloud Crash, sees its HP restoration decrease.

Cinderace

Modification of the following Cinderace abilities:

Cinderace's attack stat decreased.

The damage of the Blaze Kick ability has been reduced.

Feint's ability has been degraded.

Pyro Ball skill damage increased.

Gengar

Bug fixes have been made to Gengar's basic attack.

The damage dealt by Shadow Ball has been increased.

Hex has been downgraded (potentially less damage and range).

The Dream Eater skill has been improved.

Zeraora

Bug fixes in the Spark attack.

The damage dealt by the Wild Charge skill has been increased and its cooldown has been reduced.

The damage done by his Unite Plasma Gale move has been reduced.

Cramorant

The damage done by the Whirlpool ability has been decreased.

Dive skill damage increased.

Machamp

Basic attack bugs fixed.

The damage done by the Cross Chop ability has been decreased.

The damage dealt by the Close Combat skill has been increased.

Lucario

Fixed bugs with Lucario's Power-Up Punch and Bone Rush attacks.

Greninja

Fixed bugs in Greninja's basic attack.

Alolan Ninetales

Bug fixes in Alolan Ninetales' Snow Warning attack.
