A few weeks ago Valve revealed the Steam Deck, a portable PC they hope will revolutionize the portable game market. According to Valve, the device should be compatible with all games available on the digital platform.
For now, and until we have it in our hands, there are many unknowns. One of these is the size of the console, which in the images released looks like a fairly large system.
The obvious comparison to make, in that regard, is with the Nintendo Switch.
Now, Reddit user bulbousnub has done just that.
Using the physical specifications published by Steam, they have created a manual mockup of the Steam Deck using 3D printing, and placed it next to the Nintendo Switch. You can see the result below.
We can see that the Steam Deck is considerably larger than the Nintendo Switch, especially in where the controls are concerned. This is naturally wider to accommodate the additional buttons.
The screen is larger too, although the frame for both looks pretty similar. Obviously, it will be easier to make comparisons when we have the console, but for now, it will help you to get an idea of the size.
Valve has stated that they have performed several tests to adjust the ergonomics of the system to all types of hands, promising it will be comfortable to use despite its size.
The Steam Deck is available for preorder in certain regions, and will begin shipping in December. In 2022 sales will be expanded to more regions.
