The various splits will soon all begin their Playoffs and all eyes are already on League of Legends' first international competition: The Mid Season Invitational. If a first rumor placed the event in South Korea, we did not yet know in which city. Well, the suspense could well and truly have come to an end following a small dumpling during a stream.
The MSI could be held in Busan
The country has not hosted a first international tournament since 2018, when it was the World Championships. Last year – because of the COVID 19 pandemic – Riot Games had chosen to relocate the Worlds, which were initially to be held in China, in Iceland, a country which also hosted the MSI that same year.
The leak comes from none other than T1 CEO Joe Marsh . During a stream with Nicholas "LS" De Cesare, Joe opened up about his conversation with the CEO of Karmine Corp.
The conversation turned to KC's plans for a bootcamp in Korea. When LS asked Joe where KC was planning to do his bootcamp, Joe replied, "I hope to be in Busan, because they come during MSI...I hope to be in Busan" . LS then asked "The MSI is in Busan?" and Joe was like "Oh fuck!" . The CEO of T1 did try to catch up with the branches by saying that he was going there for a vacation and even asked LS to cut the stream, but the information had already come out. In front of his reaction, everything suggests that this unfortunate leak is very true and that the MSI 2022 will indeed take place in the second largest city of South Korea .
