Udyr's rework was one of the most complicated in League of Legends history — not least because of his skins. The developer has previously informed the community that it's the champion's multiple forms that have often held back attempts to redesign the character. Today, however, the work is almost complete and only a few final details separate us from the arrival of its new version in Summoner's Rift .
Almost ready
As revealed by the devs in the latest Champions Blueprint, the bulk of the team involved in the rework is already working on finalizing its final look. Udyr Spirit Keeper is one of the most special skins in game history as it is a cosmetic that belongs to the most expensive category (3250 RP). A situation that forced them to do extra work to adapt such a cosmetic to the expectations of the community.
The developer revealed that while Udyr's redesign features changes to the forms the character can take, the skin will use the same animals that have characterized the champion thus far . An exercise that, far from being an attempt to introduce fewer changes (the animations and effects change anyway), will try to recall the initial version of the champion. Regardless, Riot Games said, "We wanted Spirit Keeper to immortalize his ancient animal forms, while pushing the slider to the max."
As usual, the developer declined to commit to a release date for the new version. However, it seems fans' long wait for the champ is finally coming to an end. Its development period has been particularly long, but it seems that this quest will have a happy ending for everyone. The goal is for regular Udyr players who are waiting to hear from their favorite champion and the wider League of Legends community to be happy with the results.
