Long criticized by Pokémon GO players, the mega-evolution system is finally going to be changed. Trainers around the world, whether competitive or not, have been heard by the developers at Niantic. Currently available in Australia and New Zealand, the update will soon be rolling out to the rest of the world. Here is everything that this new version changes, making the Mega Evolution much more accessible.
Pokémon GO: Why change the mega-evolution system?
Added in August 2020, the Mega-Evolution has not been unanimous among all Pokémon GO players. And for good reason, the current system has a cost that is far too high : not only are Raids very difficult (for players who cannot afford to do them in a large group in particular or who do not have high-level Pokémon), but it is also necessary to make at least three of them to hope to obtain the energy necessary for the mega-evolution of its creature. Of course, to remedy this, Niantic has already set up limited events that allow you to harvest mega-energy, but this is not enough, especially for PvP players who have to farm for days before they can hope to be at the top. same level as their opponent.
The biggest problem concerns the temporality of the mega-evolution: once the Pokémon mega-evolved, it is limited in time and you must then re-use mega-energy afterwards. Fortunately, all that will change!
Pokémon GO: How will the Mega Evolution work now?
As a reminder, the mega-evolution allows you to temporarily modify the appearance of a Pokémon but above all to increase its strength (its CP). In a dedicated Journal , the developers explained all the changes to this system:
- Most Mega-Raids will be more accessible : You can now participate in small groups!
- You will be able to Mega Evolve your Pokémon from the Raid Setup and Battle Setup screens.
- Pokémon that have already Mega Evolved will now have an additional visual effect added to their information page to commemorate this momentous achievement.
- Mega Levels : Each time you Mega Evolve a Pokemon, its Mega Level will increase. You'll get more bonuses each time a Pokémon's Mega Level reaches a milestone, and these bonuses will stay active while your Pokémon is Mega Evolved.
- If your Pokémon has already Mega Evolved once, you can Mega Evolve it again without using Mega Energy!
- You can use Mega Energy to shorten a Pokémon's rest time. The Mega Energy required to Mega Evolve a Pokemon will decrease as the Pokemon's rest time gets shorter.
