While fans have been skeptically awaiting it for several years now, the arrival in theaters of the animated film dedicated to Mario has finally been postponed when it was scheduled for last December. It was the creator of the plumber in the red cap himself, Shigeru Miyamoto, who announced the unfortunate news in a course but very clear press release.
A year late for the animated movie Mario
" This is Miyamoto. " presented as usual the one that we would easily designate as Mario's father. Without going through the bush, Miyamoto revealed that he had consulted Chris-san, one of his partners from the animation studio Illumination being on the animated film project dedicated to the Super Mario Bros universe.
After consideration, the two friends have chosen to postpone the release date of the film to spring 2023 , April 7 and 28 for the United States and Japan respectively. A news that should make many cringe, but also reassure somewhere: this implies that the film is not ready and that the studio sees fit to postpone it to make it more qualitative. At least we hope so!
A promising cast
Originally announced in 2018, this film, as expected as it is feared by worshipers of the plumber brothers, will ultimately have to wait another year to reassure (or confirm the fears) of its many presumed future viewers. Video games have rarely yielded truly good cinematic renditions of original video game works, and Mario is no exception. The last appearances of the plumber on the big screen date from the end of the 90s and did little to convince those who were already waiting for a faithful adaptation at the time.
The cast of this new animated film is, however, promising for this version, to say the least. Some renowned actors will lend their voices to the main roles and we sincerely hope that the animation will live up to the expectations of spectators twenty years after the terrible movie Super Mario Bros...:
