While Season 12 is barely entering its second half, Summoner's Rift has already changed a lot since its launch. A dragon has disappeared, new champions have arrived, but the perfect balance has not yet been achieved. According to Riot Games, Sion deserves a significant change, and it just might wipe out one of the Undead Colossus' playstyles.
A radical change
Sion's upcoming change will not directly affect his ability to lane or take hits. It's mostly about nerfing the damage he can do to towers in his zombie form. As a reminder, Sion's passive allows him to come back to life as an undead for a few seconds. During this brief amount of time, Sion will lose health every second before dying "for good" (well, until resurrecting at the fountain), but will hit much faster while restoring a lot of HP. Initially, this passive was not supposed to be the heart of Sion's gameplay at all, but as so often, the creativity of the players finally caught up with that of the developers.
This will force them to change a lot of this passive. The Undead Colossus will now deal 50% reduced damage to turns while in zombie form. One of the explanations for this strange nerf could simply have been linked to the frustration that a player may feel, who after an epic fight on the top lane finally manages to kill Sion and take the advantage... Whereas in fact no, he comes back in zombie form , pushes the wave (nobody tries to 1v1 a Sion in zombie form except with levels and stuff in advance) and take a plate, which ultimately cancels the advantage of the winning player the fight. But that's not the reason for this nerf, and for once, it's possible that one person "alone" changed the face of the game.
It's stupid, so it's great
The person behind this nerf could well be Baus, a Swedish OTP Sion streamer. His mastery of the character is internationally recognized, and he challenged in Korean soloQ in front of more than 30,000 spectators. But Baus doesn't play a Sion tank like the ones that spectators can admire during official competitions, he plays a Sion soloQ whose goal is to get dirty. The titan is then played as a split pusher, with some lethality to finish off any careless champion and other split pusher items like the Hullbreaker. Its purpose is to push the towers to death, eventually destroying them by taking advantage of zombie form at the right time (i.e. dying just before a wave of minions arrives, so that their presence debuffs the resistance of the tower ).
