The Last of Us Part 1 Remake arrives this Friday, September 2 on Playstation 5, with a major graphical update as its main argument. Whether that's going to be enough to convince many gamers to pay $80 for content similar to the original is unknown, but you can get a better idea of what's to come with these lengthy gameplay snippets. Bill's town is a passage where things really start to heat up in the game. Joel, Ellie and Bill, a paranoid man, must collect car parts in a town full of infected and traps. It is better to remain discreet as long as possible, in order to limit the size of the horde of zombies which will tumble out and rip your face off with their teeth.
For those new to The Last of Us
The story of The Last of Us Part 1 is set several decades after a global pandemic caused by a parasitic fungus ravaged the world. Its spores drive infected people berserk and contagious, resulting in the notorious zombies we're used to, but rather the fast and very aggressive version of 28 Days After among others. These zombies evolve and become more formidable over the years, their head turns into a kind of horrible mushroom that makes them blind, but also very sensitive to noise. For their part, the survivors take refuge in quarantine zones.
Joel and Ellie form an unexpected duo, with on one side an elderly and disillusioned man, and on the other a 14-year-old teenager, necessarily a little rebellious, but also naive, since she discovers the cruelty of the world. Far from being like father and daughter at the start, they are forced to team up following different adventures, and they will have to cooperate in this brutal world, where the slightest mistake can be fatal, or worse. The game mixes phases of exploration, dialogues, and above all clashes that mix infiltration and desperate fights, where the slightest bite is a death sentence. It is therefore necessary to combine all the facets of the game, whether it is recovery, crafting, stealth, and the use of weapons in order to eliminate often many more enemies.
The remake on PS5 intends to keep all of these elements, and what made the charm of the original version, while offering much improved graphics and some additional features. As seen in the trailer, the characters' faces are more detailed and expressive than ever. The sets are also richer and more spectacular than before.
