Images of a possible roadmap for Overwatch widely circulate online, revealing challenges ahead for Brigitte and Zenyatta in 2020.
The first concerns Reinhardt's horsewoman and would be called "Brigitte's Helmet Heart Challenge". We can see a lion's head, symbol of the heroine, which she proudly wears on her shield and Reinhardt's new Overwatch 2 armor. In the background can also be seen Gothenburg, a new map for Overwatch 2 and the city where Torbjorn — Brigitte's father — lives. The image includes a release date of February 2020.
In the second part of the leak, the "Zenyatta's Iris Challenge" — with symbols of the most mysterious omniac in Blizzard's universe — is revealed. June 2020 is the date we are given so we will have to wait a little longer for this challenge. However, this leak is composed of another image that reveals in detail what can be expected. A new story written by Michael Chu — who is none other than Overwatch's head writer — a new community challenge, seven character tags created by community artists, a collaboration with twitch streamers, and a skin called "Human Zenyatta" are unveiled.
[Update on November 26]
A third image has just leaked on the internet. Scheduled for November 2020 this challenge called "Liberation" would bring us more lore on Lúcio, our Brazilian DJ.
Are these leaks convincing?
Let's note that leaks are quite present at Blizzard, especially concerning Overwatch, the most obvious example being the revelation of Overwatch 2 a week before Blizzcon. It isn't impossible these information may prove to be true.
- Developers revealed during interviews that they were going to unveil heroes' reactions to the return of Overwatch, a major topic in the story mode of Overwatch 2.
- In the first image, Brigitte is misspelled — adding a 'G' and forgetting a 'T'. We can also notice that logos seem to be slightly off-centre and a little too simplistic.
- A "Human Zenyatta" skin suggests that the healer wouldn't have an omniac appearance. This idea is pleasing but still quite odd.
Even if this leak remains quite convincing and plausible, it seems unlikely that we will get exactly what is promised to us in these images. We will have to wait at least until February to learn more about it.
