Each season brings a lot of events, special characters, fish and insects of all kinds to Animal Crossing: New Horizons! In this guide, we explain the difference between the seasons and the changes they make on a daily basis!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons: the seasons and their differences

If you don't already know it, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a real-time game. The passing hour and the seasons are the same as in our everyday life. These seasons bring small changes to the life of your island (as in real life too). This is why, we are going to explain to you, what are the modifications brought by the seasons in the game!

Events every season

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Just like on our calendars, in New Horizons we have some events for each season. A host of events and festivals will take place each season to provide additional content for players.

Here are some examples :

  • Spring : Bunny Day and fishing tournament
  • Summer : July 14
  • Fall : Halloween
  • Winter : Christmas and New Year's Day

Changing landscapes

The seasons also bring a change in the landscape with weather, the trees, the soil, the outfits in the store of Able Sisters. In Autumn, you can make lots of dead leaves to decorate your island, while in winter snowmen can be created.

Fish and insects

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Who says change of landscape, says change of content. Each season, you will be entitled to a very specific panel of fish and insects which can change from month to month. Fish found in July will be unavailable in December (barring exceptions) for example. Animal Crossing follows the natural path of fish and insects so that they are in season!

Time changes

With the seasons, the stores may also change hours. Their opening and closing will depend on summer and winter hours. As a result, the shops will naturally be open longer in summer than in winter!

Special visitors

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Each season and event brings its special visitors to your island. For example, Zipper, the Easter bunny, will not be present in winter, because its event takes place on April 1, so in spring.
