CJ is the special character who will allow you to participate in the fishing tournament which takes place every 2nd Saturday of the month in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! The key is rewards in the theme of fish and an exceptional sale of fish. Indeed, CJ is just like Flick, he buys you the fish you have caught more expensive than its basic price! Do not hesitate !
In addition CJ can come to your island outside of fishing tournaments to buy all your fish! So wait for the right time to sell your rare fish in order to make the most of your time!

How to participate in the fishing tournament?
To find out if a fishing tournament is looming, Tom Nook and Isabelle will make an announcement on the microphone in the daily report. Then, go to the square in front of the residents' service to meet CJ, who will be available until 6 p.m. Just go talk to him and ask to participate in this tournament. Attention, the first participation is free, but the next attempts will cost you 500 bells!
Tournament rules
- Catch as many fish as possible around the island in 3 minutes
- You will receive points for each fish you catch
- You can exchange your points for fish goods
- Receive bonus points for catching 3 or more fish
- It is mandatory to have at least 2-3 inhabitants on your island for the tournament to take place
The point scale
- 1 fish: 1 pts
- 2 fish: 2 pts
- 3 fish: 5 pts
- 4 fish: 6 pts
- 5 fish: 7 pts
- 9 fish: 11 pts
Tips for getting the most fish
- Make sure you have a new fishing rod so you don't waste time
- Prepare upstream baits to chain the fish
- Fish in ponds and the sea, rivers are sometimes too complicated
Rewards available
