Runes

Garen's rather simple kit lets him quickly build up Conqueror stacks. In slot 1, Brutal will often give you the upper hand in your toplane matchup.

Spirit Walker a must-have against slow-heavy compositions. Essentially, it gives you some reprieve against enemy kiting, as it makes reaching your target easier thanks to a +20% resistance to slows.

Mastermind is a great choice to round out your build if you plan on winning your lane outright.
