How to master the Weak-Point Smash in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

Fighting is one of the most satisfying parts of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Mowing down legions of enemies using a tool belt of special attacks and maneuvers feels satisfying and explosive.

The early stages of the game guide the player along easily, teaching techniques and strategies as the difficulty slowly ramps up. The Weak-Point Smash is maybe the most important move in the game. It's a technique that helps the player make short work of a potentially troublesome mini-boss or boss, and helps tip the scales in your favor.

Every boss has a pie-shaped defense meter. In the image below, you can see Link getting ready to battle a Gerudo Captain, with the meter in plain view.

The objective is to pound away at that meter until it doesn't exist anymore. Do this by using remote bombs to break the defense, or dodging and hitting the enemy from behind. Eventually the meter will decrease completely.

Once you obliterate the gauge, you'll see a prompt to perform a Weak-Point Smash.

Press X and the game starts a cutscene with a devastating attack that usually ends the enemy. Use this technique often to stop anything in your way.
