Getting the precious Beast Gems specific to each monster is a central element of Monster Hunter Rise, and you'll need these gems to craft armor. You can improve your chances of getting gems with tricks that will speed things up.

Monster Hunter Rise: How to get Beast Gems

In Monster Hunter Rise, it is possible to have to kill a monster more than twenty times before getting its rarest component, which can be frustrating. While we don't have a miracle technique that will ensure you get the materials on your first try, we can give you some tricks to greatly improve your chances of getting them quickly. We'll go through them one by one, and we recommend that you combine them.

Compendium

By opening the menu, navigate inside to open the Compendium and select Large Monsters. You can see a loot table on the last page, the one called "Materials". Remember to press "X" to get the Expert loot page. In this way, you can see what the chances of getting each item are, and what factors affect these changes.

This is also very useful for items like the Wyvern Gem that can be obtained from multiple monsters. This way you can confirm the list of monsters that may or may not give it to you.

Note that even if the item appears as a line of question marks, you can still deduce what it is in many cases by looking at the list of materials required at the forge. You can still see the factors that affect the chances of getting it.

Capture the monsters

Capturing is often a good way to improve your chances of getting rare gems and materials. With some exceptions, it is not a mistake to use it automatically on every hunt.

Buddies for life!

Palicoes have 5 different classes. At level 20, Palicoes Gatherers automatically unlock a thief boomerang that will give you additional monster components at the end of the hunt. This is obviously very rare, but we have had more than one occasion where the Palico managed to steal a gem. Be aware that if you are playing in multiplayer, all other hunters will also get these materials, so encourage your friends to do the same. If you're playing as a single-player, you can take two Gatherers instead of one. You will lose the convenience of traveling in Palamute, but it will increase your chances of stealing the desired item

Wyvern's Ride

By riding a monster and attacking another monster with it, it will drop shiny objects on the ground that can be picked up. The chances of this happening are tiny (usually 1%), but it can be the desired beast gem or component. You can drop 3 items per monster this way during a hunt, plus a few by attacking it conventionally with your weapons. This is always a plus, and over several hunts, you may end up getting lucky.

Remember to cut off the monster's tail if possible, skin it, and damage all possible sections of its body.

Luck

There are many ways to get better rewards at the end of a quest, and thus get the Beast Gems:

  • Dangos: Sometimes a miraculous dango is offered in the canteen. Make sure its effect is activated since it improves the rewards.

  • Talents: Some pieces of armor have the "Luck" talent, like Utsushi S armor. There is also a pair of gloves with the talent "Master Capture" which improves the rewards for capturing a monster.
  • Felicicrow: It's quite rare, but sometimes a Felicicrow appears on the map during the hunt. A message will then warn you and its icon will appear on the minimap. By catching it, you will get better quest rewards.

No more single-player

Finally, the most reliable way to get gems and other materials is to kill monsters quickly and efficiently. With the right consumables, using an aggressive build and ideally playing with 4 players, you can chain the hunts together very quickly. Find a lobby dedicated to hunting a certain type of monster in the search criteria, and off you go. If you take 5-10 minutes to kill a monster, and you kill it several times, your chances of getting the desired item increase even more, especially when combined with all the methods listed above. It's only a matter of time and perseverance at this point.
