Changing class in Final Fantasy XIV is something very common since you can play absolutely everything without having to create a new character.
Although very simple in practice, changing class is not possible from the start of the game. In fact, you will first need to reach level 10 with your first combat class and complete the class quest for the same. level.
Once this step is reached you can change class as you see fit, provided you have unlocked more than one class.
To change classes, you only have to equip the primary weapon of the class you want to take.
To unlock new classes you will have to complete the blue quests available in the main cities, it is important to note that until you have advanced enough the main story you will not be able to go to the other capitals to unlock more classes.
