Elden Ring Boss Guide: How to find and beat Pumplin Head
0

Elden Ring is overflowing with areas to explore, such as the Post Town Remains overrun with poisonous plants and filled with treasure. Here's how to get in and defeat the Pumpkin Head boss.

There's plenty of bosses and secrets awaiting you in Elden Ring.

One such area, the Post Town Remains, is found in the far east of the map. It's overrun with aggressive plants, but they're easily uprooted.

How to access the hidden Pumpkin Head boss

You'll notice that the staircase down into the cellar is blocked by an indestructible wooden barricade.

We don't know if this is intentional as part of the beta, but it's possible to leap over it using the Spectral Steed's double jump

Once over, prepare to face a pretty formidable boss.

Combat

If you can, avoid using your Vials and Spirits on the plants in Post Town Remains, as you'll absolutely need them for Pumpkin Head.

We really don't recommend trying to take him on without them, so if you find yourself without, return to a Site of Grace and then return on horseback, avoiding mobs as best you can.

Pumpkin Head is a big bully, slow and with highly violent attacks. You can block them with a good shield, using the turn tactic and striking him every now and then.  It's also pretty easy to dodge his attacks. Considering the small size of the room, keeping your distance is not really an option.

Your summons will make your life a lot easier in this battle. The Wolves will keep Pumpkin Head's attention, allowing you to attack him from behind.

As is often the case, the Northern Mercenary makes this fight a lot more trivial.

Rewards

Defeating Pumpkin Head really is landing the jackpot.

For starters, you'll get 1000 Runes and the Pumpkin Helm, which makes you look intimidating in PvP and is a throwback to the Onion Knights of Catarina from Dark Souls.

Additionally, you'll unlock a Site of Grace. Behind the door is Sorceress Sellen, who sells some rather excellent spells - such as Meteorite, Briars of Sin, and Magic Bubble.

And that's not all -- you can also find a chest containing the full Carian Knight Set of armor. This was one of the best (if not the best) armor set in the beta in terms of weight-to-defense ratio, and it also looks great.

Of course, if you're already playing this class, this is moot, but the rest of the spoils more than makes up for taking on the battle.
