Elden Ring Boss Guide: How to defeat the Demi-Human Chiefs and reach the island
0

The Elden Ring beta featured an offshore island that appeared unreachable, but that's actually not the case. Here's how to beat the Demi-Human Chiefs that guard the path.

A pair of bosses that are rather unconventional by FromSoftware standards await you at the start of Elden Ring, in the form of the Demi-Human Chiefs and their entire family.

If you approach the encounter the wrong way, this fight can prove to be very difficult.

How do I get to the island in Elden Ring?

To start with, you'll need to locate the Demi-Human Chiefs. Walk down to the beach to the west of the map.  Proceed to the closest point of the island, but don't try to cross the water - you'll just get sucked into the abyss.

Turn around, and you should see a a cave on the side of the cliff. Inside his cave, known as Dissenter's Cave, is a passage that will lead you to the island.

Given it's a cave, the interior is pitch black, so we'd recommend buying the Torch from the merchant  advise you to buy the Torch from the merchant.

Battling the Demi-Human Chiefs

How you approach this battle will determine how it plays out. There's no transition like with other bosses, and there are other mobs that can interfere.

Advance discreetly via the bushes on the left, and wait for the patrol to move away. Then stealth kill one of the small enemies, or even attack the boss itself.

We'd advise summoning your spirits here -- the Wolves are excellent here, since they are able to kill the more basic mobs and survive long enough to be useful. You'll need to take out these mobs first, and as quickly as possiible.  If you stole the sword from the convoy, its sweep attack will be very helpful here.

Your aim is to clear the area, so that you can focus on one of the bosses.

If you've timed it well enough to clear the mobs quickly, the second boss and his friends will arrive later in the encounter rather than earlier. You can choose to finish off the first boss here, or switch to the new lesser mobs..

The bosses are aggressive, but they are also very easy to stagger and interrupt. This makes it easier to attack.

A good shield to will mean you can block most attacks and counterattack, but be mindful of chained attacks.

Rewards

You won't get anything for the win, but you are free to continue exploring the island. It hosts the Church of Dragon Communion, and a dragon's corpse that hides the Dragonfire spell.
