The big day is finally here ! Disney Dreamlight Valley is available in its early access version this September 6, 2022 and therefore allows you to play it in advance before its final free to play release in 2023. The opportunity to discover the magical world and rebuild it at your way while befriending iconic Disney and Pixar characters. If you are new to the game, you will find below some tips for getting started but above all the mistakes to avoid at all costs.
Mistake #1: exploring alone
Whether you decide to go fishing, mine some gems, or even remove some nightly thorns from your Village, don't do it alone. You have the possibility of being accompanied by one of the characters living on your island such as Mickey, Merlin, Picsou or Goofy for example (starting characters). Talk to them and choose the "Let's go for a ride" option. Your companion will then track you and gain experience points each time you perform a harvesting action (fishing, farming, mining, picking up objects, etc.)
This is very important because you can then level up a character more easily and thus unlock better bonuses by assigning them a profession. For example, if you give Dingo the Fisherman profession, you will have a chance to get an extra fish by fishing if he accompanies you.
The other main reason to level up a character is to unlock new quests and advance through the main storyline. In short, the more you explore accompanied, the more you will be able to advance in the game.
Mistake #2: Buying anything and everything
Once Scrooge's store is unlocked, you'll probably want to buy your dream dress or that gorgeous velvet sofa to put in your house. Hold back! Even though the store's stock changes daily, there are other priorities for spending your money at the start of the adventure. For example, it is important to unlock the different Goofy stands in each biome (it costs money) but also to repair the teleport points!
Mistake #3: Selling everything
The money can be obtained fairly quickly by selling the gems, but I advise you to keep a copy of each because it will be useful later for quests. In general, try to keep at least one copy of each resource in the game . This will necessarily be useful for a mission or more simply to please an inhabitant by offering him his favorite gift of the day.
Good to know : you can use the chest in your house to store resources but also craft other chests to get additional storage! Each chest has its own content. Also remember to expand your inventory as soon as possible.
Mistake #4: Not talking to locals
In addition to being able to take them on excursions to make them progress faster, other options are not to be overlooked when talking to your inhabitants. Every day, you must:
- Talk to him at least once a day with the "daily chat" (this will also allow you to earn Dreamlight),
- Give him his 3 favorite gifts of the day (they appear at the bottom right of the screen when you want to give him one). If you don't have the gifts in question, give them one anyway.
Mistake #5: Fishing only in circles
Of course, aiming for circles with bubbles in ponds, rivers or oceans is very important if you want to get rare fish (especially in red circles). But did you know you can even fish where there are no bubbles? This will bring you a meager loot like small fish but especially Seaweed! A very important resource for making fiber which then turns into rope, which itself is a very important material for construction.

In addition to these 5 mistakes to avoid at all costs, here are some tips and tricks that I give you after twenty hours of play:
- When a timed mini-game is triggered (for example, you eliminate a nocturnal thorn and resources circled in red or gold escape), hurry to collect everything to obtain a luxurious chest containing a nice reward!
- Unlocking the different teleportation points is very practical in order to make quick trips between areas,
- If you are stuck somewhere (rocks or mushrooms are blocking the passage), try to take another path (open the map and you will see for example that the Beach has two separate entrances),
- Favor Bananas to restore your energy: always keep some on you (or go back and forth at home)
