Level 2 Grounded tools: How to unlock them?

Level 2 Grounded tools: How to unlock them?

Your progress will quickly be blocked by resources requiring a rank 2 ax or hammer, for example, which is quite complicated to obtain. Find out how to craft them as quickly as possible.

Grounded follows the classic pattern of survival games, like Valheim. The materials available at the start allow you to create basic tools, in order to harvest different materials and hunt insects. With these new materials, you can craft more advanced tools required to harvest even rarer items. However, it takes time to do all of this, and you also have to find the right resources, which can be complicated.

The ladybug, the crossing point

To initiate your transition to Tier 2 tools, the best thing to do is kill a Ladybug. For this, you can abuse the bow, use the anthill, or play melee properly.

Level 2 Axe

This is by far the level 2 tool you are going to need the most often, and the fastest. In addition, the ax is also very useful in combat against the majority of enemies that you will face at this point, such as large spiders, mosquitoes and others.

The good news is that the ax is easy to craft, we already mentioned the ladybug above. Silk is not a problem either, there is no need to kill spiders, just destroy webs everywhere with a weapon in order to harvest the materials. Then you need a spinning machine. The only difficulty lies in the bombardier ends.

Grounded

You can find a bomber beetle to the east near the trowel trench. There's another one further to the east, and yet another to the west, not far north of the anthill. This enemy can be a bit scary, but it's not that dangerous if you face it in melee, or if you bombard it with arrows from high above. Above all, you have to learn to recognize his attacks, such as the triple explosion around him when you are in melee, and then it passes by itself.

Level 2 Hammer

Things get complicated here, you have to put more effort into the different materials. The heat gland can be obtained from a bombardier beetle, so you should master this aspect. The berry leather requires venturing to the southeast corner of the map, along with the berry tree. There are a few berries on the ground that you can extract with an axe, but you will quickly have to climb in the branches, and knock the berries down with gravel or arrows, before going back down to ground level to cut them. It's a little strenuous, but not too difficult.

Grounded

The real difficulty lies in the pieces of bugs, since this insect releases clouds of poisonous gas, and you normally don't have a gas mask at this point in the game, unless you find a rotting version of it in the lab of the hedge.

Other level 2 tools

It shouldn't surprise you, but you won't need the level 2 shovel or knife for a while, unless you really want to mine some items immediately, in order to take shortcuts in progression.

  • Black Ant Shovel : As the name suggests, it requires pieces of black ants. You can find them near the sandbox, as well as to the north, near the garden shed and the black anthill.
  • Bone Dagger : Much more useful, this weapon allows access to a lot of Milk Molars hidden underwater. However, making it is not an easy task, since it requires components from the pond, bones found under water, as well as pieces of Argynonetes, the aquatic spider.

explosive charge

It's not a level 2 tool strictly speaking, but functionally it is in terms of progression. You will need quite a lot of equipment to craft it. In return, they will give you access to a lot of game secrets.

Grounded

Don't go grab the Red Ant Eggs just yet , as they will hatch in your inventory or chest if you drag around too much. Instead, craft yourself a gas mask or two, grab your level 2 axe, and go to the contaminated area to the southwest. You have to extract mold, but be careful, the area is really very dangerous, and the mask wears out quickly.

For red ant eggs, it is better to craft all 3 pieces of red ant armor, and equip them together. So red ants, including soldiers, will not attack you in the anthill. Collecting the eggs is then child's play, at least until the moment you collect them. The ants present will become hostile. It is better to pick up as many as possible and flee very quickly. Please note in passing that there are Milk Molars and a BURG.L Chip hidden in the anthill, it deserves you to search it carefully.
