In this article, we walk you through the new Trials mode on Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Guide to the Trials game mode

After removing the Trials mode due to some bugs, it has been re-introduced into Modern Warfare.

The mode is available for all players that have reached Officer Rank (Level 55). Here is a guide to help you understand the mode better.

Trials are time trials. The goal is to complete the task in the fastest possible time. The faster you do it, the more XP you get!

There are three attempts to get three stars in the trial. It is up to you whether you choose to spend another token to go for the fastest time

The Different Trials

Weapon Course

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

This trial is a training course that you must complete in the fastest time to earn all three stars that are on offer. It is preferable to use weapons with a large magazine to  avoid reloading. The speed and accuracy of the shots do slow you down so try to be as focused as possible.

Behind Enemy Lines

The principle is the same as the Terrorist Hunt on Rainbow Six. It is easier to kill the enemies one at a time. It is also important that you don't rush otherwise yur chance of dying will be much greater.

The enemies are located at the same location even if you restart so remember where they are in case you want to go for a faster time. The FR 5.56 kills enemies in a single burst so this is the weapon of choice.

The trial is also available in a nighttime variant, making it difficult to spot enemies. The night-vision goggles also make the weapons less accurate due to aiming down sights with a laser. The nighttime trial is much more difficult than the daytime version so it is important to remain vigilant and you can always start the trial again. We advise using the AUG or the MP5 SMGs for this trial.

Sniper Challenge

For this trial, you find yourself in a shooting range where your sniper skills are challenged. The first few targets appear in front of you which is easy enough but in the latter rounds, the targets appear much further away and are moving so you must take into account the slight bullet drop.

This trial is also available with a 357 pistol as the weapon of choice.

How to take part in Trials

To play Trials you will need to acquire a token that can be earned through in game progression. Players that have not reached Officer Rank will not have access to this mode or be able to collect any tokens for the game mode.

Tickets are reset at the end of each season so make the most of them while you can!

The Rewards

The rewards are based on how fast you complete the trial. The XP earned will allow you to level up faster.

  • 1min 50secs - 5000 XP (1 Star)
  • 1 minute - 7500 XP (2 Stars)
  • 40 seconds - 10000 XP (3 Stars)

It is simple, the faster you are, the more XP you earn!
