The Gas Mask is one of the most important items in Warzone. There are not many players who waste their money to buy it in the store (although we have already seen that it can give us certain victory in certain circumstances) trusting that they could collect it on the map, but the truth is that in the final stages of the gas circle, it's of vital importance.
However, there are players who avoid it for a certain reason - the animation that the character makes to take it off and put it on. If we are in the middle of a gunfight and the gas catches us from behind, if we are with both hands on the weapon, our avatar will drop the weapon with one hand to put on the mask and, later, it will do the same to take it off . That causes us to be firing from the hip at considerable distances at certain times, and makes us lose gunfights when in reality we had our sights well on the enemy.
In principle, the animation is designed to alert the player that the gas is on him and that he has to move quickly if he does not want to die. However, it may be excessive to remove the ability to aim down sights when we are shooting another player, because it isn't the gas that kills us, but our rival.
The gas mask mechanics have to change. As you can see in the Reddit video that we have left a few lines above, the community is asking that Infinity Ward change the function of the mask so that it does not interfere in certain situations. On the other hand, if you can cancel the animation then this may be the answer to the problem.
