Although it's one of the main leagues of the League of Legends competitive ecosystem, the LCS is struggling for years to actually thrive. Whereas it's a question of talent management, player importation, visa issues, or simply of the broadcast quality, it seems that the North American league is always behind the other leagues.
Following Week 1, harsh criticism came from the community regarding the new production, backlashing the new overlay — and overall asking the LCS to take inspiration from other regions to properly build their own league.
"We recognize that we missed the mark on what you expect from the LCS broadcast, from both a creative cohesion and technical POV," said LCS Commissioner Chris “Riot Commish” Greeley.
"From audio issues to screen flickering, we suffered a series of technical issues that you wouldn’t expect from us, which we hadn’t seen in rehearsal. We’re working with our engineering team to button things up going into Week 2." said Riot.
With the new Friday Night League, the LCS changed their production right before the start of the 2020 Summer Split, introducing a new show that was supposed to be different. However, they recognized they might have gone too far...
