While its 2020 edition had been postponed to an unknown later date, the Blizzcon finally offers itself a date with the announcement of BlizzConline on February 19 and 20, 2021! The annual meeting of Blizzard fans will take place, with a little delay of course, and virtually this time!

BlizzCon will be held online on February 2021

Postponed due to Covid-19, BlizzCon 2020 finally has a date... in 2021! It will take place on Friday February 19 and Saturday February 20, 2021 virtually. Blizzard hasn't yet released any announcements other than multiple contests and events, but no doubt that will be the case in the coming weeks.

On the program, Blizzard is planning the following events (which you can find in detail in their announcement below in this article):

  • Cosplay parade
  • Costume contest
  • Art competition
  • Storytelling competition
  • Our fans have talent
  • March of the Murlocs

Other events seem planned but the organizers don't wish to say more for the moment. According to them, "the preparations are far from over", but there is no doubt that nice surprises should await us!

Blizzard official announcement

Synchronize your watches, flip your hourglasses, prepare a notification on your mobile… Whatever way you follow the passage of time, remember the date of BlizzConline ™, which will be held on February 19 and 20, 2021! If current circumstances prevent us from meeting in person this year, we are planning a small party early next year to bring the spirit of BlizzCon to life in the form of an online event. The preparations are far from over, and we can't reveal much information just yet, but we wanted to share with you how you can help make this online party unforgettable. Get Ready for the Community Celebration For BlizzConline, we're planning the Community Celebration, an opportunity for cosplayers, artists and other creators in the community to participate in the show and showcase their talents, via high flight and captivating demonstrations. And since the convention will be fully online this time, we will be able to make these events accessible to even more fans around the world. We're also having a special murloc walk, and invite you all to participate by sending us your images and videos. If you want to participate in the murloc walk or community celebration, be sure to follow the health guidelines for your photos, videos, or other group accomplishments. Read on to find out everything you need to know to prepare yourself the best! Cosplay Parade Registration deadline: January 4, 2021 Never miss an opportunity to come to a convention in costume? Unless you are looking out for the right time to get into cosplay? In any case, the cosplay parade is waiting for you! This no-stakes presentation of cosplays inspired by the worlds of Blizzard is open to fans of all skill levels, whether veterans or casual cosplayers. The online format is also an opportunity to try something new: bring our animal friends onto the virtual stage! If you like to dress up your furry companions and want to present your dog, cat or any other animal, we would love to discover your animal cosplays. We will broadcast your original contributions during the convention online; so send us your best photos and videos, and maybe you (or your pet) will appear onscreen in February. To find out how to properly submit your contribution, what we are looking for in terms of quality and other important criteria, read the official rules carefully. Costume Contest Entry deadline: January 4, 2021 The costume contest has always been a highlight of BlizzCon. While we may not all be able to be physically present on the same stage, we want to give the best cosplayers an opportunity to showcase their talents in the virtual spotlight. The BlizzConline Costume Contest will be divided into four categories: Best Blizzard Character: Rewards outstanding portrayals of iconic heroes and antagonists from the worlds of Diablo, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, StarCraft and Warcraft. Blizzard's Best Weapons and Armor: Rewards exemplary manual skills used to create epic, battlefield-worthy gear. Best Modern Achievement: Rewards expertise in working with materials such as foam and plastic, and with techniques such as 3D printing and electronics. Best traditional achievement: rewards expertise in working with materials such as fabric, leather, metal and wood. Our judges will elect a winner for each of these categories, and among these, they will designate the best overall cosplay. All the winners will be revealed to the world during the BlizzConline broadcast. Note: you do not have to choose which categories you wish to compete in; these will be determined by the judges. As the contest takes place entirely online, the videos and photos you submit can be shown during the show. Think about this when preparing your contributions. Art Contest Entry Deadline: January 4, 2021 We are calling on all artists to submit their original works for the BlizzConline Art Contest! Whether you're painting a mighty hero, sculpting a terrifying villain, or making a memorable moment in a game (or in real life), this is your chance to showcase your talents to the world. If you need a little inspiration, know that Blizzard will be celebrating its 30th anniversary in February; why not take the opportunity to mark the occasion? Prizes will be awarded to works in first, second and third places, and an event will be dedicated to the winners when BlizzConline airs. Check out the official rules below, and click on the Enter button to submit your contribution. Storytelling competition Deadline for entries: January 4, 2021 The storytelling competition invites budding directors and videographers to create an original narrative short film around the worlds of Blizzard. Like the art competition, we invite you to draw inspiration from our 30 years of existence. You could re-enact an epic story your way. Or imagine a gathering of iconic characters from different eras or universes. Whether it's live shots, animation, using images from games or all of the above, the important thing is that you let your creativity run wild. First, second and third place winners will be awarded prizes, and your story can be heard by the whole world when BlizzConline airs. To learn more about the maximum length, file size and format and other important criteria, read the official rules. Our Fans Got Talent The “Our Fans Got Talent” event is an opportunity to celebrate the diverse talent of the global Blizzard community. In a group or solo, we invite you to show what you can do, whether you give in music, physical performance, magic, humor or any other field. To participate in this show online, all you need to do is send a video of yourself or your group, whatever the nature of your performance (song, dance or other), and you may be part of the selected selection for the broadcast of BlizzConline. For any group number, remember to respect the health recommendations. To learn more about the maximum length, file size and format and other important criteria, read the official rules. March of the Murlocs Deadline for entries: January 4, 2021 If you've been to BlizzCon for the past few years, you may have come across a strange procession, made up of hundreds of people walking around the convention like murlocs. To honor this great tradition in the making, we invite you to participate in a virtual murloc walk for BlizzConline! To participate, simply send us a photo or video (30 to 60 seconds, preferably filmed horizontally) of you walking, parading or dancing, in murloc costume (definition left to your interpretation). We're also accepting in-game murloc marching photos and videos, so gather your allies and fish guilds and let us hear your finest mrgrlglgrrl! Remember the above deadlines when you get down to business, and if you have any questions about any contests or presentations, contact us at BlizzConCommunityShowcase@blizzard.com. We look forward to seeing your creations, and maybe even sharing them with the world at BlizzConline!
