His flattened haircut and golden fins have been dated for ages, but now the Midas Flopper is now swimming in Fortnite waters. It's possible to fish the specimen since the implementation of patch 14.20. By consuming it, you'll automatically upgrade your weapons to legendary quality equivalents.
Note that the Midas Flopper is only found in the waters surrounding the Authority. Probably a nod to the Midas character from Chapter 2 Season 2, who was the Agency's boss and has since become the Authority.
Where to find Midas Flopper
The other important information about this variety of fish is its drop rate. To fish it, you'll have to be equipped with the pro fishing rod (rare quality). By casting your line into the schools of fish, you'll have a 1% chance of fishing Midas Flopper. This is a drop rate equivalent to that of the Vendetta Flopper — and very clearly above the drop rate datamined a few weeks ago which was 0.00004%.
Is the Midas Fish too powerful for the competitive mode? It's necessary to admit that with such a strong drop rate, this fish is going to turn some games upside down. At high level it could be a total game breaker, and above all too dependent on RNG.
