Despite a mixed opening day to the DreamHack Fall Showdown, Team Liquid played some highly effective PUBG as they recovered to claim the top prize.
The win comes after victory in PSL Season 7 hosted by PUBG Finland and second place in PCS2 Europe, and serves as a good warm-up for the upcoming PCS3 event.
Having claimed two wins on Day 2 to rise up the rankings, Liquid secured five top-five finishes from six games on Sunday — closing out the win in style.
In the final game of the tournament Liquid took down their closest rivals, Bystanders, to effectively guarantee the overall victory. They went on to secure the chicken in a thirteen-kill success.
Liquid have a direct invite to the PCS3 main event, and will be looking to build on their recent successes. Known for being one of the top teams in Europe, they have suffered from inconsistency in big events.
However, with Norwegian Nikolaj "clib" Haugaard being confirmed as the squad's fourth, joining long-time members Jeemz, ibiza and 2020 recruit mxey, hopes will be high of closing the gap on FaZe Clan, who won PCS2 relatively comfortably.
